University of Aruba opens Green Faculty

Last Friday the University of Aruba and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (University of Leuven) signed a partnership agreement for the Green Faculty at the University of Aruba. The duration of this partnership is 5 years. The Green Faculty is an academic program focused on research in the field of sustainability.
The STEM (Science, Technology and Engineering) bachelor program is planned to start at the end of 2017. The program is supported by the Aruban government as facilitator and financial partner.
The University of Leven is one of the biggest independent research institutions in the world. They will provide the University of Aruba with staff who will train the local teachers. The European Development Fund financially supports the Green Faculty for 13.5 million Euro’s.
The Green Faculty contributes to the development of Aruba’s knowledge economy and Aruba as a sustainable island.
